How to Prepare for Your Lab Draw Appointment

To help ensure a smooth and successful blood draw, please review the following steps before your mobile phlebotomy appointment.

1. Confirm Your Lab Order

Make sure you have a valid laboratory order from your healthcare provider. Have a printed or electronic copy available for the phlebotomist during your appointment.

2. Follow Test Preparation Instructions

Some laboratory tests require special preparation. Your healthcare provider may instruct you to:

  • Fast for 8–12 hours before the blood draw

  • Avoid certain medications or supplements

  • Drink plenty of water prior to the appointment

If you are unsure about preparation requirements, contact your healthcare provider before your appointment.

3. Stay Hydrated

Drinking water before your appointment can help make your veins easier to access and may help the blood draw go more smoothly.

4. Have Identification Ready

Please have a valid photo ID available to verify the patient’s identity.

5. Prepare a Comfortable Collection Area

Choose a clean, well-lit area where the phlebotomist can safely perform the blood draw. A chair with arm support or a table nearby is recommended.

6. Secure Pets

For the safety of both the patient and the phlebotomist, please secure pets in another room during the appointment.

7. Have Insurance and Payment Information Available

If applicable, have your insurance information and payment method ready. Mobile service fees are typically separate from laboratory testing fees.

8. Relax During Your Appointment

Try to remain calm and relaxed during the procedure. Most blood draws take only a few minutes to complete.

If you have any questions about preparing for your appointment, please contact our team prior to your scheduled visit. We are happy to assist you.
